Gambling has been a popular pastime for centuries, and it’s no surprise that it has been the subject of many movies and TV shows. From classic films like “The Cincinnati Kid” and “Rounders” to more recent hits like “Molly’s Game” and “Casino Royale,” the world of gambling has provided endless inspiration for filmmakers.

But which movies and TV shows truly stand out as the best of the best when it comes to depicting the thrilling, high-stakes world of gambling?

“Aviator” (2004)

One of the most iconic gambling movies of all time is “The Aviator,” directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Howard Hughes. The film explores the life and times of the legendary businessman and aviator, and his involvement in the Las Vegas casino industry. Along with the depiction of Hughes’ life, the film also features an exciting subplot involving the eponymous Aviator gambling game. This fictional game is based on a real-life casino game and adds a thrilling element to the film, as we see Hughes and his associates strategize and compete to win big at the game.

“The Cincinnati Kid” (1965)

One of the most iconic gambling movies of all time, “The Cincinnati Kid” tells the story of a young poker player, played by Steve McQueen, who takes on a seasoned pro, played by Edward G. Robinson, in a high-stakes game of five-card stud. The film, which was directed by Norman Jewison, is a masterful depiction of the tension and drama that unfolds at the poker table, and it features some of the best poker scenes ever put on film.

“Rounders” (1998)

Another classic gambling movie, “Rounders” stars Matt Damon as a law student who gets drawn back into the world of high-stakes poker after his best friend, played by Edward Norton, gets into trouble with some dangerous people. The film, which was directed by John Dahl, is a stylish and atmospheric look at the underground world of professional poker, and it features some of the best performances of Damon and Norton’s careers.

“Molly’s Game” (2017)

A more recent gambling movie, “Molly’s Game” tells the true story of Molly Bloom, a former Olympic skier who ran an exclusive high-stakes poker game for some of the most famous and powerful people in the world. The film, which was written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, is a fast-paced and engaging look at the world of underground gambling, and it features a tour-de-force performance by Jessica Chastain as Molly.

“Casino Royale” (2006)

While not strictly a gambling movie, the 2006 James Bond film “Casino Royale” features one of the most thrilling and intense gambling scenes in cinema history. In the film, Bond, played by Daniel Craig, goes head-to-head with the villainous Le Chiffre in a high-stakes game of Texas hold ’em poker. The scene, which was directed by Martin Campbell, is a masterful blend of action, suspense, and tension, and it perfectly captures the high-stakes atmosphere of a high-stakes poker game.

“Breaking Bad” (2008-2013)

While not a movie, the critically acclaimed TV show “Breaking Bad” features one of the most memorable gambling storylines in recent memory. In the show, Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston, gets involved in the world of underground gambling as a way to raise money for his cancer treatment. The show, which was created by Vince Gilligan, is a tense and dramatic look at the world of illegal gambling, and it features some of the best acting and writing on television.

“The Gambler” (2014)

Starring Mark Wahlberg, “The Gambler” tells the story of a college professor and gambling addict who gets in over his head with a group of ruthless loan sharks. Directed by Rupert Wyatt, the film explores the darker side of gambling addiction and the consequences that come with it. Wahlberg gives a powerful performance as the troubled protagonist, and the film’s gritty atmosphere perfectly captures the danger and desperation that come with being caught in the grip of addiction.

One of the most striking things about “The Gambler” is the way it portrays the protagonist’s descent into addiction. The film doesn’t shy away from showing the destructive effects of gambling on the protagonist’s life, including his relationships, career, and mental health. It’s a stark reminder of the human cost of addiction, and the film’s portrayal of the protagonist’s struggles is both powerful and poignant.

Despite the heavy subject matter, “The Gambler” is also a well-crafted and compelling film. The pacing is tight, the dialogue is sharp, and the performances are all top-notch. The film’s atmosphere is also expertly crafted, with a dark, gritty tone that perfectly captures the danger and desperation of the protagonist’s situation.

Overall, “The Gambler” is a powerful and thought-provoking film that delves deep into the darker side of gambling addiction. It’s a must-watch for anyone interested in the subject, and it’s a testament to the talents of the cast and crew involved in the film. So, if you’re a fan of gambling movies, “The Gambler” is definitely worth checking out.

These are just a few of the many gambling movies and TV shows that have been produced over the years. From classic films like “The Cincinnati Kid” and “Rounders” to more recent hits like “Molly’s Game” and “Casino Royale,” the world of gambling has provided endless inspiration for filmmakers. Whether you’re a fan of poker, blackjack, or any other casino game, there’s a gambling movie or TV show out there that will appeal to you

In the Middle Ages, Prince Edmund the Black Viper is constantly plotting and trying to take the crown away from his father and brother.

The action takes place in England at the end of the War of the Roses, and we soon learn that the story we know is a Tudor fabrication. In fact, Henry VII did not win the Battle of Bosworth; he lost, and though Richard III died in the battle, his nephew King Richard IV (who, of course, was not strangled when he was still a boy in the Tower of London) ruled for several years. The story is told of Richard IV’s youngest son, Prince Edmund, a sniveling coward who calls himself “The Black Viper.” With the help of his gruff servant and foolish Lord Percy, Edmund plans his ascent to greatness.

The Black Viper is a medieval British sitcom that aired in 1983 and ran for 6 episodes, in which Rowan Atkinson plays Prince Edmund the Black Viper, the unattractive, cunning, cowardly, despised and unloved son of Richard, Duke of York, who becomes a prince when he accidentally kills his uncle, King Richard III, and three witches tell him that he is destined to become king, and with the help of his minions the idiotic Lord Percy and the clever servant Baldrick, Edmund intends to fulfill his destiny and plans to seize the throne.

King Richard IV is a mad monarch who ruled England during a really dark part of the Middle Ages. He has two sons: one, Harry, his eldest son and the Prince of Wales. Although he is greatly respected by the court and overly loved by his father, Harry is also quite mad … and two, Edmund, Duke of Edinburgh, who is hated by his family and hated by the court. Despite this, the slimy, brash, stupid and sarcastic Edmund, dressed in a costume under the pseudonym “The Black Viper,” intends to inherit the throne with the help of two helpers: Percy, the only aristocrat foolish enough to respect him, and Baldrick, a street peasant with spirited “cunning plans.”

Mr. Bean is a British comedy television series consisting of 14 half-hour episodes. The main role in the series is performed by British actor Rowan Atkinson. The script for the series was written by Rowan Atkinson, Robin Driscoll, Richard Curtis, and Ben Elton. The first series was released on January 1, 1990, and the last, “A Haircut by Mr. Bean of London,” on November 15, 1995.

All of the series recount Mr. Bean’s “exploits” in various tasks from everyday life and often culminate in highly unusual solutions, sometimes resulting in a bit of destruction. Bean rarely speaks, much of the humor of the series lies in his interactions with other people and his unusual solutions to problems.

The style of the television series was heavily influenced by the comic actors of silent movies.

During the six years of its run, the series won a huge number of fans in the United Kingdom alone. For example, in 1992 the series “Mr. Bean and His Trouble” was watched by 18.74 million people. In addition, the series has won many international awards and prizes, including the Golden Rose.

The rights to the series were bought in more than two hundred countries. There were also two feature-length films, “Bean” and “Mr. Bean’s Holiday,” as well as a series of short animated films (cartoons that won great popularity among children as well).

And later – and as of 2021 still – new first-person video sketches (Handy Bean) and music video animations on the official youtube channel of Mr. Bean (for example, a video sketch where Mr. Bean – in a modern version by Rowan Atkinson makes a snowflake with his hands) are released.

Mr. Bean was invented by Rowan Atkinson when he was a student at Oxford University in the 1980s. So the homeland of Mr. Bean can be considered Edinburgh, where an annual theater festival was held, which brought together young talented students. However, the character’s current name (Mr. Bean) was invented only in time for the series. There were other “vegetable” names for Bean that “didn’t pass the casting,” such as Mr. Cauliflower.

A similar character named Robert Box, played by Atkinson, appeared in 1979 in the situation comedy Canned Laughter (sitcom) by one of Britain’s leading television corporations, ITV.

In 1987, one of Mr. Bean’s first appearances was at Just for Laughs, a comedy festival that has been held since 1983 in Montreal (Quebec, Canada). When the organizers of the event were putting together the festival program, Atkinson insisted that he perform in French rather than English. Since Rowan’s number did not include any dialogues in French, the organizers could not understand what his decision had to do with it. As it turned out, Atkinson’s number at the festival was to test the audience’s reaction to the new character, Mr. Bean. The comedian wanted to see how non-English-speaking audiences would accept the image he created.

Rowan Atkinson says he was inspired to create the character of Mr Bean by a character in an old French comedy, Monsieur Hulot, played by the French comedian Jacques Tati. Mr. Bean is stylistically similar to a silent movie (sitcom or action comedy), as there is virtually no dialogue in the series. This allowed the series to be shown around the world almost without translation.

In November 2012 in an interview with The Daily Telegraph actor admitted that if you go on to play a “childish” roles at this age, it looks “pretty sad. Rowan Atkinson decided to say goodbye to this image and switch to dramatic characters.

Planet Earth is a 2006 British television series produced by the BBC Natural History Unit. It took five years to create and was the most expensive nature documentary series ever commissioned by the BBC, as well as the first to be filmed in high definition. The series won several awards, including four Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award and a Royal Television Society Award.

“Planet Earth” premiered on March 5, 2006 in the United Kingdom on BBC One, and by June 2007 it had been shown in 130 countries. The original version was voiced by David Attenborough, while some international versions used alternate narrators.

The series consists of eleven episodes, each presenting a global overview of a different biome or habitat on Earth. At the end of each fifty-minute episode, a ten-minute short film recounts the problems of filming the series from behind the scenes.

Ten years later the BBC announced a six-part sequel called Planet Earth II, the first television series produced by the BBC in super high definition (4K). David Attenborough returns as narrator and host. A second sequel, Planet Earth III, has now been announced and is scheduled to air in 2022.
