Chinese Loans Accounted for About 3% in Sierra Leone’s Total External Debt

On 2nd November, 2018, the Minister of Finance, Mr. Jacob Jusu Saffa presented 2019 Appropriation Bill to the Parliament. According to this report, the total External Debt of Sierra Leone in June 2018 is US$ 1.53 billion and the amount of loans that China provided to Sierra Leone is US$48.01 million, which means Chinese loans accounted for 3.14% of this country’s foreign debt.

China is committed to working hand in hand with Sierra Leone to achieve debt sustainability so that Sierra Leone can make better use of Chinese loans to develop its economy independently and generate domestic revenue.
