Gareth Bale transfer latest: Tony Cascarino expects Real Madrid star to be back in the Premier League next season
Gareth Bale has no future with Real Madrid and could be back in the Premier League next season, according to Tony Cascarino.
12 minutes later Asensio made a game changing impact, scoring the winning goal to put Los Blancos in the driving seat ahead of next week’s return leg at the Bernabeu; Real now have two away goals, and are on course to reach a third successive Champions League final.
Bale’s 2017/18 campaign has been interrupted by injury, again, and he has started just 16 LaLiga games, but he has proven he is still good enough to make an impact when on the pitch with 11 goals scored in those appearances.
And while Bale could still prove valuable to Real if he remained injury free for an entire season, Cascarino feels he has fallen too far down Zinedine Zidane’s pecking order, and will be leaving the Bernabeu this summer.
Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Cascarino said: “Gareth has got no future there – he’s going to be out of Madrid, there’s no doubt.
“Yesterday they changed the team around, [Karim] Benzema and [Marco] Asensio came on from the bench in front of him.
“He’s fallen way down the pecking order and he’s not going to be at Madrid in the summer.
“They can move him on… and they will.”
Bale has recently been linked with a summer switch to Bayern, the team Real claimed victory over on Wednesday, but Cascarino expects any move for the Welshman will see him return to England.
“You’d think he’d come back to England,” the former Chelsea forward added. “He’s has his stint [abroad], and he’s done brilliantly by the way, but he’s had too many injuries in recent seasons.”
